Welcome to the unofficial website of the Monterey Ridge Elementary School. Located in the quiet, convenient location of 4S Ranch, it is part of the Poway School District, which is one of the top school districts in the area. The principal here is currently Richard Newman. The school has an API of 931. The school mascot is the Monarch Butterfly.

WHO IS THE MAKER OF THIS WEBSITE?

I am a fifth grade student at Monterey Ridge. I enjoy school, computers, technology et. al., and I'm proud of it! I'd like to make this blog a record of what we do at Monterey Ridge, and build a platform for Monarchs (students) to get together and use this website as a collaborative effort.

Annoucement from the official website

Dr. Newman has won an award! Each year the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) and Special Education Foundation (SEF) host an Excellence in Special Education Awards ceremony to honor teachers, staff members and other professionals who work with our Special Education populations. This year for the first time ever, a principal-- our principal-- has been selected to receive this award. Join us in celebrating Dr. Newman and the excellence he brings to all of our work, and especially the work he does with the special education population at Monterey Ridge.

Kindergarten Registration

Well, it's all over now! Due to the over-capacity of kinder-gardeners, a lottery was held on May 26th. If you (or your siblings) didn't get chosen in the lottery, Dr. Newman would give that student a special call. If you did, that means you didn't get a call, and Dr. Newman might have sent you a letter instead in the mail! The class lists (I think) are already posted on the school gates, so check for your (or your sibling's) name!

TALENT SHOW REHEARSALS

Talent show rehearsals are over! The talent show is on June 3rd for 3rd-5th graders (I believe K-2 has already had theirs). Practice your acts and good luck!

MARCH:

1st- STAR writing test (Fourth grade ONLY) and World Math Day

9th- Fun Run

11th- Multiplicity Day (AKA Twin Day) and End of 2nd Trimester

Today- Pi Day! (Pi=3.14, todays date is 3.14.2011). Also, and due date for Talent Show forms

18th- College Day (wear a college T-shirt or sweater!) and Report Card Day

25th- Military Day (wear camouflage shirts or anything that has to do with military), also Hearing and Vision test (5th grade ONLY)

28th- (5th grade ONLY) Panoramic Picture

For March only- wear orange every Wednesday

APRIL:

Character pillar of the month: Fairness

1st: Math Marathon (turn in those pledge sheets!) and "Crazy Outfit" day

4th-8th: Spring Break- NO SCHOOL!

15th: "Fake an Injury" Day

19th-26th (2nd-5th grade ONLY): STAR Testing!

29th- College Day (again)

Talent Show Forms Due March 14!!!

Are you a Monarch that has lot's of talent? Then you might want to participate in the 3rd annual MRES Talent Show! Don't forget to turn in your talent show forms- the due date has been extended to March 14th.

Anybody Ready To Run?

Well, the days are going by and by and guess what! The next upcoming event in Monterey Ridge is going to be on March 9th. ARE YOU READY TO RUN? Well, that's right, the PTA Annual Fun Run is coming up! Because of this event, Running Club in the morning will be cancelled. See you out on the track and lets run run run!
